Welcome.
My name is Glenda, and I’m the eldest daughter of Glyn Marie Hayes Bell and Clayton Cleveland Bell, Sr. I welcome you to this, the website for The Bell Family Gospel Singers from Temple, Texas. We made our first public appearance New Year’s Eve 1956 at an all-night singing near Gatesville, Texas. We were young, younger and youngest!
Mother played the piano and guitar and sang alto (I’ll cheat and tell you that she was 19 when I was born.).
Mary was 8 and sang soprano.
I was 11, singing high tenor.
The two Claytons weren’t added to the singing group until later. When we started singing in public, Clayton, Jr. was only 5.
Many things have happened since I first created this website. Now, both Mother and Daddy have walked on to bigger and better things beyond this life. While we miss them, we are happy that they have found the truth they always sought.
When we were going though the house preparing for the estate sale, we found that Mother had kept and protected much of our history. There are concert flyers, pictures, and many letters from Frank Stamps and others. There are also ancient photographs, mostly from the Bell Family ancestors. Some were labeled, some not. As I scan and prepare these, I will add them to the site in the Gallery.
