My name is Glenda, and I’m the eldest daughter of Glyn Marie Hayes Bell and Clayton Cleveland Bell, Sr. I welcome you to this, the website for The Bell Family Gospel Singers from Temple, Texas. We made our first public appearance New Year’s Eve 1956 at an all-night singing near Gatesville, Texas. We were young, younger and youngest!
Mother played the piano and sang alto (I’ll cheat and tell you that she was 19 when I was born.).
Mary was 8 and sang soprano.
I was 11, singing high tenor.
The two Claytons weren’t added to the singing group until later. When we started singing in public, Clayton, Jr. was only 5.
Just wanted to say how much I like the new site.
Thanks for the chance to listen to more of my favorite gospel group. The cassette tape I made off of the speakers of the record player was getting worn out.
